Which Cat Breeds Are the Most Outgoing?

Published on Sunday, September 7, 2014 in Cats and Kittens

There are different types of cats out there that are worth considering if you plan on getting one for yourself. Just like dogs, you need to choose a cat that has a personality that will suit you and the kind of lifestyle that you are living. Some select a cat based on their fur while others choose based on their temperament. There are some who prefer to have a cat that is outgoing like the ones mentioned below.

  • Siberians – This is quite popular in Asia and Europe and is now growing in demand in other countries. Many cat lovers choose Siberians because they are great around children and hardy enough against all kinds of diseases. A busy family may well enjoy Siberians because they are not high maintenance.
  • Ocicats – This cat breed has shorter hair than the Siberian. Ocicats are actually a combination of Siamese and Abyssinian cats. They can actually be taught to respond to their names and they are perfect for families with kids. However, keep in mind that Ocicats have high energy which means they can be destructive if they don’t get enough activity.
  • Bengals – A cross between a wild leopard cat and domestic cat, Bengals are highly intelligent and outgoing. However, their friendliness is reduced somewhat because of the wild leopard cat mix. Bengals can be territorial at times which is why this is not a great choice if you have kids or smaller animals that can be seen as competition.
  • Persians – This is another favourite cat breed by many cat lovers because of their personality. They are docile and don’t make too much noise when trying to get your attention.
  • Maine Coon – If you have a pet dog then the Maine Coon might be the perfect choice for you. Another intelligent cat breed, the Maine can live in harmony with children and dogs as well.
  • Siamese – For those who are looking for a cat that is very active and intelligent, the Siamese cat is a good choice. Siamese cats are loyal and affectionate too.
  • Abyssinian – This cat breed has a sweet disposition and is a very active and intelligent one to boot. Abyssinians are not exactly lap cats but they can be quite attentive.
  • Ragdoll – As the name suggests, this type of cat acts like a ragdoll when carried. They tend to collapse in your arms so you can enjoy their beauty while stroking their fur.
