What to look for when choosing a Pet and Dog Boarding facility.

Sometimes, you may need to go away and leave your dog or pet in someone else’s care. This may be a very difficult decision for you and the pet. To ensure that everything runs smoothly and your pet adapts to the new environment easily, here are a few things you should consider first.
How Well Will Your Pet Be Taken Care Of
You need to check out a few pet boarding facilities before making the ultimate decision to move your dog or other pet to its new temporary home. You should do this with the pet and interview the workers. Get to know whether they are qualified enough to handle a medical emergency. Are they experienced enough to feed, groom and take care of your pet’s specific needs?

How safe is the Environment
You should ensure that your pet is in a safe facility and he has time and space to himself. This is especially if he is not sociable. If he is a small dog, you need to be more careful that he is not mixed with larger once. In case of a scuffle, he might end up losing his life.

Diet, Exercise and Medication
You should try to keep the pet’s lifestyle close to the one he was used to at home. This includes the diet, any exercise routines he was used to and medications he was having. If he was taking any supplements, let him continue using them even in the boarding facility. Try to make sure that he sleeps in an area close to what he was used to at home. This will help him adapt to his new environment fast. If he is allergic to some foods, inform the staff in advance. Also, let them know if he has any special conditions or if he is under any medication. It is also important to leave your contact details in case of an emergency.

How much will it Cost You
This is an important factor to consider. Different facilities cost differently depending on the services they are willing to offer your pet. Modern facilities tend to be more costly but you will be assured that your dog will receive some of the best services around. It is advisable that you do some research on how much it may cost you and start putting some money aside for boarding long before the due date. This will ensure that you will not be short of cash and end up for any facility you can afford and compromise on the quality of service.

Once you find the ideal home for your pet, help him settle in. Your pet may have problems integrating and getting along with the other pets especially if he is not the social type. Ensure that he has enough room to himself and the conditions in his new home are almost similar to the ones at home.
