If you have noticed your dog shaking and trembling all over, here`s a number of reasons why this happens. First of all dogs get cold, like we do so they shake, especially dogs with very short hair. This is why you will see Chihuahuas in sweaters and why they seem to shake most of the time, BUT did you know that your dog could be trembling because he is in pain?
Yes, if your dog seems to hesitate before doing a normal activity, it could mean that something is hurting. An upset tummy or a sore back can make your pooch shake. Your dog may also shake and tremble when he is scared or nervous. Many dogs are anxious by nature, so they often shake. These dogs will most times run and hide.
Sometimes this shaking can be an indication of a much more serious condition, such as Diabetes and Kidney Disease as well as other serious issues. If your dog`s trembling is paired with weakness, this could be an indication that there is an illness or damage to their spine or brain.
Be very aware if your dog gets poisoned, he will often times start shaking, which is then followed by seizures. So, lets look at what we can do to solve these issues. If you are cold, your dog is cold, so provide a sweater for them.
For outside dogs, make sure their bed/doghouse has a floor to lift them off the cold ground and provide an old blanket for them to burrow in. Make sure it is out of the wind, as much as possible.
For dogs that are prone to anxiety and nervousness, you can ask your vet to prescribe some medications and treatments, for their nerves. There is absolutely no reason why your dog should stay in a nervous state all the time when your vet can provide these calming medications.
Dogs are excellent at pretending everything is fine, so watch him closely, to spot any subtle signs that show your dog is in distress. If he doesn`t want to jump or climb stairs, he is probable is pain, which your vet can prescribe medications for as well.
If your dog is vomiting, depressed or is drinking a lot more water than normal, he could have a Kidney or Brain issue as well as Diabetes and therefore should see a vet pronto! If there is no reason why your dog is shaking, that you can tell, make sure you have him vet-checked as soon as possible!
