Dogs are loyal, affectionate, playful and gentle. Owning a dog can be an enjoyable experience for the whole family. However, adding a dog to your family is not a spur of moment assessment as you have to choose the best breeder who will help you find the right dog breed that fits in with your lifestyle. There are numerous things to consider prior to choosing a dog breeder. Below are various things that you should consider prior to finding the right dog breeders.

Visit your preferred breeder
The first step is to visit your breeder of choice once you have determined the breed that you wish to adopt. Carefully observe the cleanliness of their dogs as this will impact the state of the dog’s health. An unclean puppy can result in worms being transferred from the mother to the puppies. This may cause discomfort for your puppy and you in terms of regular vet visits.

The breeder should ask many questions
Choose a reputable dog breeder who is interested in getting their puppy in safe hands. They should be able to ask you many questions. They are going to want to know more about the amount of time you will devote to your new family member, how active is your life, if you intend to take part in any activity with the dog etc. They will also want to meet your entire family.

Take a look at the puppy’s parents
The dam of the puppy should be available so you can meet her if not the two parents. All breeder’s dogs must be well catered for, clean, and temperaments that you prefer in a pet. Don’t accept excuse for indecent behaviors. Also the puppy’s space should be tidy and kept well.

Be patient
It is a good idea to take sometime once you have determined the breed you want to adopt. Think about it carefully, you may wait for a few weeks but your dog will be with you for many years. The healthier your dog is the longer he will live and also better his quality of life and yours.

A reputable breeder is your dog’s foundation so make a wise choice as your future dog depends on that. Always remember to ask your breeder lots of questions prior to making this crucial decision.
