Due to its honeycomb-looking markings, the Tessalata Eel is also known as the Honeycomb Moray Eel. While saltwater eels have an excellent sense of smell they don’t have very good eyesight. Despite the poor eyesight they manage to be good escape artists so a tightly fitted tank lid is vital. Eels have a snake-like body and vary in colorations. Use caution when in a reef tank as this eel will eat small fish and invertebrates.
