Cats And Kittens For sale

Looking for a meow machine to light up your life?

Wherever you are in Australia, from Melbourne to Sydney to Brisbane to Perth and beyond, you can search for a breed nearest to you.

Our classifieds cover both kittens and cats for sale, so we can help you no matter which age you’d like to buy.

When you decide to step up as the new caregiver of a kitten or cat, you may not initially have all the know-how required to be the best you can be, as there’s quite a lot to learn, so we’ve got a few helpful and important pointers to kick-start your life together:

  1. Keep your cat or kitten’s vet visits constant
It’s always good to go and see a vet regularly. They can let you know of any shortfalls in diet or anything else that you may have simply missed.

  2. Feeding time
Have a look through some online review sites and make an educated choice on one of the foods for sale. Once you’ve decided on the brand, be sure to not over-feed your little buddy – your vet can advise you of just how much is enough to keep them healthy and happy.

  3. Keep them entertained
Spend lots of time with them and buy some toys for them to play with. They love to run around and have lots of energy to expel when they’re not sleeping. Scratching posts are essential too, unless you’re happy for those claws to be dug into something else… like your furniture.

  4. Bow down to your new king or queen
If you’ve had a cat before, you’ll understand this. After a short while, they will lay claim to your entire house, and all other creatures living there, they do so because you allow it to happen. Teach them to respect your house ruler(s).

  5. Allow your cat to be comfortable inside a carrier.
Cats are not a big fan of moving into a new house and settling in again. As much as they can, they spend time in a place where they feel most comfortable.

Moving into a new home can be stressful for them. Hence, before you bring them from a pet store or shelter, make sure that they are comfortable inside a carrier. Put their bed inside and place some food outside to entice them to go inside.

Once you’ve moved your cat into your new home, let him or her sit inside the carrier for the first few days, but leave the door open. Eventually, your cat will want to explore outside and leave his or her carrier.

  6. Create a safe, familiar space.
Cats can be agitated when moving into a new environment. Hence, you should create a safe, familiar space for them. Ask the pet store or the shelter for their old toys, bed, and bowl. Anything that is already familiar to them will help them to get rid of their anxiety.

Also, confine them into one small room in the house before introducing the rest of the property to them. It should feel like their haven whenever they feel uncertain outside.

  7. Make sure that the place is cat-friendly.
Before you move your cat into its new home, make sure that the place is cat-friendly. That being said, there shouldn’t be any crawl spaces that you can’t reach or holes that will let your cat escape.

Also, check the surroundings if there are any plants that can poison your cat. There is a list of poisonous plants for cats that you should consider.

For the first two weeks, confine your cat inside the house. And when you feel that he’s ready, take your kitty outside for only ten minutes. Each day, increase the time you are spending outside to ensure that your cat is familiar and feels safe with the new place.

  8. Keep a familiar routine.
Before taking your cat into its new home, make sure that you know his or her routine. Ask the pet store or the shelter its usual time for eating, playing, cuddling, and sleeping. Maintain that routine to distract your cat from the stress of moving into another environment.

Also, your cat will expect to be fed, pet, and cuddled at that time. Keeping an old, familiar routine can do wonders for your kitty and help make a move less stressful.

  9. Talk to your vet about medications.
Unfortunately, some feline companions cannot handle much stress when moving into a new home. This rings true to adult cats. They spent most of their lives inside a shelter or a pet store that moving into a new house can be disrupting.

You can talk to your cat’s vet for any medication. Some medication includes anti-anxiety medicines, diet pills, calming aids, and supplements for your little kitty. Letting them take it before moving into a new house can help a lot to ease their anxiety.

  10. Keep their meals small.
During the first few days of your feline in its new house, make sure to keep their meals small. An upset stomach can lead to vomiting, especially if they are still anxious about their new surroundings. By keeping their meals small, you can reduce the risks of puking and nausea. Keep it in a small amount, but make sure that their meals are familiar. Preferably, the meals that they used to eat in the shelter or store should be the same served to them.
We can also help in your quest to find a dog for sale, or if you’re looking to adopt a pet, and even have listings for pet friendly accommodation throughout Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and everywhere else in Australia!
