Description
The Dalmatian is a breed that requires a high energy lifestyle.
His history is undefined but this breed of dog is known to have fulfilled varying roles in the past including that of a shepherd, retriever and even a ratter. His genetic make-up now has transformed to that of a highly energetic companion.
His spotted coat needs little care though he will certainly shed needle like hairs particularly during mating season. He copes well in most climates and a concern with the breed is that many are born deaf. It is essential when looking for a Dalmatian puppy that you find a good, ethical and honest breeder. His bounciness may make a young Dalmatian unsuitable for a home with young children but he is usually great with other animals at home, though some can be a bit pushy with strange dogs outside of the home.
This dog is highly intelligent and will embrace positive dog training along with hiking, running and other energetic activities. He cannot be expected to settle in the home if his daily exercise levels have not been met. Well socialized, perfectly bred and trained nicely he will be a great companion for the active owner or family.
