Description
A family dog that loves his people like no other is the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Though robust and muscular with an unfortunate reputation, often reinforced by the press, raised and socialized well the Staffordshire Terrier is one of the nicest, friendliest and most open terriers that you can meet. His nature shows that he is a dog so full of loyalty and love that no potential owner could pass him by.
The Staff needs a good social introduction to the world. He can be a little reactive with other dogs if unused to them and positive, gentle social contact should stop this becoming a problem. As with any other breed of dog he should not be left alone with children. Although he has the long term reputation as a nanny dog and adores them.
He will need a daily walk of at least an hour but the rest of the time he will be happy to snuggle up in a warm bed. He is generally easy going to share your home with and quite low maintenance in coat and temperament. A lot of staffs do not like the rain and cold weather so you may have trouble getting him out in the winter. His coat is short with little wet weather protection but is does shed a lot and will fill your floor with little needle like hairs.
The unflinchingly loyal Staffordshire Bull Terrier is usually friendly toward strangers. He has a great sense of humor and a wonderful, unique staff smile.
