This breed is the perfect example of a companion dog. They have wonderful temperaments. The Australian Shepherd Dogs are also tagged as Velcro Dogs because they want to be near their owners almost all the time. As a matter of fact, human contact among this breed is extremely important to their well being. They are both loving and possessive but often display suspicious behavior around strangers. They are Intelligent and active dogs, even-tempered as long as they get plenty of exercise and activities that will allow them to release their energy. They are not harmful to children, but supervision is needed as with all dogs. These good natured dogs are a lovely family pet, and make great obedience dogs.
